How to Wear Makeup with the Biggest Zit Ever

Imagine it is a gorgeous morning! The birds are singing and the sun is shining brighter than ever! You wake up, ready to seize the day, only to see an unexpected guest, Mr. Pimple, on your chin. Normally, you would just treat the pimple, not wear any makeup, and smile to deflect from the fact you have this "friend" on your chin. However, you have to be somewhere important and possibly impress someone.

DISCLAIMER:

It is important to remember that you should be confident no matter. Confidence should be the star of your show, not your makeup. Although it is important that our confidence shine through, let us be real here, you probably will not feel 100% confident when you have the largest zit of your life. This post is to show you some tips and tricks to cover up that nasty zit. If you do not need to be anywhere, please treat the pimple by washing your face, applying some sort of treatment to your acne and not wearing any face makeup - let your skin breathe!

Here are the steps on how to wear makeup with the biggest zit ever:

Face:

1. Cleanse and moisturize skin:
- cleanse skin and moisturize to prep the skin for makeup
- find products that can treat this "friend", even while wearing makeup

2. Apply Sunscreen: *daytime*
- depending on the sunscreen,  mix it with a moisturizer, wear the sunscreen on its own, or find a moisturizer with a sunscreen
- pimples or scars are prone to darkening due to sun exposure
- good to wear regardless of a zit's presence

3. Apply a BB cream, tinted moisturizer, or a foundation (powder or liquid)
- apply a thin layer to reduce redness
- keep it lightweight

4. Apply concealer
- apply concealer to any areas of redness
- do not "cake on" the concealer, this will make the acne appear even worse
- this will not erase the texture, just the colour of the pimple
- use a more matte, opaque, drier concealer

5. Powder
- powder the skin (thin layer)
- find a matte (not flat) powder with more coverage
- press into the skin to again, especially over the pimple, to add more coverage
- swirling the brush will move all the concealing

6. Apply Bronzer and Blush
- this will depend on where the breakout is located.
- generally, keep these two products (preferably matte) farther away from the breakout (if breakout is center of face)
- apply bronzer and blush more to the back of the cheek  (more colour towards hair line)
- if breakout is on the cheek, apply more bronzer than blush as bronzer is least likely to be pink or red based, like a blush (press products into the skin)
- if prefer cream products, mix a bit of concealer with cream blush or bronzer and apply over acne  (concealer helps mimic skin's undertones, camouflaging the zit better) *thank you lisa eldridge*
- stick to neutral toned blushes

Eyes:

This may sound crazy, but I think wearing a smokey eye or adding a thicker liner to the eye makeup  will distract others from the zit. The key is to draw the attention away from the breakout as much as possible; this is for if the breakout is a part of the lower portion of the face. If the acne is a part of the upper portion, play down the eyes and focus on lips.

Lips:

I think, to play it safe, wearing a nude lip is the best option. This is for if the pimple is closer to the lower portion of the face. However, if the pimple is closer to the upper face portions, play up the lips! Again, the key is to draw the attention away from the breakout as much as possible.

I hope these tips help you! Please tailer these to suit your own needs/ routine.
